Double Glazing with uPVC frames
uPVC (unplasticised PolyVinyl Chloride) is a non-conductive, rigid window and door material used for its superior insulation, durability and low-maintenance.
uPVC windows and doors have been a staple in international construction for over 60 years. Since 2006 we have been educating Canberrans on the benefits and necessity of insulated windows and doors for our unique climate and over the years have witnessed the popularity of uPVC frames used for new and renovated homes.
We offer two brands of uPVC, Aluplast and Deceuninck, both European with testing and certification for our Australian climate. These brands are fabricated in Melbourne by Thermotek Windows and in Sydney by Forever Green Windows to the relevant Australian Standards AS2047 and AS1288.
Features include fusion welding, compression seals, UV-stabilisation and multi-point locking, steel reinforcement, chambers and up to BAL 40 available for fire rated areas. UV-stabilisation allows these products to withstand Australia’s harsh climate against warping and fading. The brands we offer are compatible with either double or triple glazed glass units, with the standard glass unit being 24mm deep. Frame profiles are available in a variety of laminated colours on bases: white, dark grey and dark brown. Customisable duo profiles or white inside with any colour outside are also available.
The use of cutting edge technology achieves top energy ratings between uValues 1.2-2.4 (WERS). Made to order with endless configuration possibilities to suit any size, style and functionality needs. Our design team works with you or your builder/architect to tailor-design each window and door, creating a cohesive vision with individual room requirements in mind.
Top Features of uPVC Windows & Doors
Non-conductive material
uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) is naturally a non-conductive material, making it an excellent choice for thermal insulation. Unlike metals, which readily conduct heat and cold, uPVC’s molecular structure prevents the efficient transfer of thermal energy. This inherent property helps maintain consistent indoor temperatures by reducing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. As a result, uPVC windows and doors contribute significantly to energy efficiency, providing homeowners with a comfortable living environment and lower energy bills.
Weather Resistant
BPA Free
Being a BPA-free material, uPVC ensures safety for use in homes and buildings. BPA, or bisphenol A, is a chemical often found in various plastics that can pose health risks when it leaches into food or water. uPVC is formulated without BPA, making it a non-toxic and environmentally friendly option for windows and doors.
Lead Free
Traditional PVC often contained lead as a stabilizer, which posed health risks and environmental concerns. Modern uPVC formulations have eliminated lead, replacing it with safer alternatives, making it a non-toxic choice for windows and doors. This advancement not only enhances the safety of living spaces but also contributes to a healthier environment.
Recyclable
Unlike some other materials used in construction, uPVC can be efficiently recycled and repurposed at the end of its lifespan, reducing waste and conserving resources. Recycling uPVC not only minimizes the environmental impact of disposal but also promotes sustainability by reintroducing the material into the production cycle for new products.
Long Lasting and Durable
Easy to Maintain
One of the key advantages of uPVC is its ease of maintenance. Unlike materials like wood, uPVC requires minimal upkeep to keep it looking its best. Its smooth surface is resistant to fading and rotting, meaning it only needs occasional cleaning with soap and water to maintain its appearance. Additionally, uPVC does not require painting or sealing, saving homeowners time and money on maintenance tasks. With uPVC windows and doors, homeowners can enjoy hassle-free maintenance and long-lasting performance, making it an excellent choice for any property.
