Step 5 Panels are a uPVC board that can be used to create privacy and add style to your door. aluplast provides tongue and groove 85mm panels that can be placed vertically, horizontally, diagonally or chevron. deceuninck has 150mm flat panels available in either vertical or horizontal directions.

Step 6 Pick a threshold that suits your application.

Low Aluminium

The standard threshold is a low-profile, step-over aluminium plate designed to provide smooth and effortless access to and from your home.

Alumat Magnetic

Passes regulations for new builds and extensions that require one door to have near-zero thresholds. When the door is closed, the magnet attracts the seal, creating a tight barrier against air leakage, noise, and water. Upon opening, the seal retracts, providing a level surface for easy access.

Fully Framed

Rather than having an aluminium threshold, this option has the uPVC frame continuing at the bottom. It is used in areas with build-up on the outside or require better weather protection.

Step 7 If your entry has space for a sidelight, select the type that suits your requirements.

Fixed Sidelight

Fixed sidelights are narrow, vertical windows positioned on one or both sides of a door.

Hinged Sidelight

A hinged sidelight front door is essentially an off-centre french door. The hinged sidelight allows a wide opening when moving furniture or large items through the door.

Tilt & Turn Sidelight

This practical design has a tilt and turn sidelight that allows screened ventilation without requiring a screen over the door. Tilt for every day ventilation and turn for maximum airflow.

Winder Sidelight

For wider sidelights, a casement or awning can provide fly screened ventilation.
