Strathnairn Charity House

In 2022, Solace Creations had the honor of donating windows and doors to the Strathnairn Charity House. This project was led by Jo Farrell of Kane Constructions and initiated by Master Builders Association and Ginninderry, with a team predominantly composed of women in the fields of construction, architecture, design, and real estate.

This stunning four-bedroom house was designed by CK-Architecture and features Aluplast windows and doors from Thermotek Windows in Turner Oak Malt. Turner Oak Malt is a light timber-look uPVC profile with a realistic grain texture. This colour beautifully complimented the use of timber features through-out the design of the home and brought a warmth to the neutral and fresh tones used on the cladding and roofing.

The chosen window styles were awnings which have compression seals and are non-intrusive to the inside of the home, and an array of fixed windows that were used as features and to invite the sun into all areas of the home. The use of a raked highlight brought an interesting design element to the front door and a beautiful full height raked window was used inside the home to separate the dining area to the stairway.
Hinged doors were used for the entry and back door, while a double sliding door was used to open up the home to the backyard.

The use of uPVC double glazed windows and doors ensures a comfortable home throughout the year, with proper sealing and insulation.

The Strathnairn Charity House went to auction in 2022 and sold at $1.56m. Proceeds benefited Hands Across Canberra (for distribution to Karinya House), Pegasus Riding for the Disabled and Canberra City Care.

In 2023, Solace Creations won the Australian Glass & Window Association People’s Choice Award for the Strathnairn Charity House. Thank you to our partners, Thermotek Windows and Australian Glass Group for their contributions to the project.

Solace Creations was proud to have been involved in an incredibly meaningful project that aimed to provide crucial support and donations to various charities in Canberra. The project was not only impactful in its charitable efforts but also brought together women from all walks of life, creating a sense of community and camaraderie throughout the entire process.
